Indoor Air Quality in Lewisville, Texas
Quality Air Means Quality Life
Most of us want to believe the air in our homes is safe and clean. Though you would imagine that there couldn’t be nearly as many pollutants indoors as there are outdoors, the opposite is true. Studies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Environmental Protection Agency and other organizations show that indoor air can contain five times more contaminants than the air outside. All those pollutants can have a significant impact on your family if they’re not effectively eliminated. For those of you who are concerned about the quality of the air in your home, Milestone has the solutions you’re looking for.

HVAC Maintenance
One of the simplest steps you can take to improve your indoor air quality is scheduling routine HVAC inspection and tune-up services. Dust, dirt, and other particles accumulate in heating and cooling systems over time. From there, they circulate in the air you breathe. During an HVAC tune-up, we clean your furnace and air conditioning components to get rid of the build-up and keep the particles from reentering the air.
Duct Cleaning
All the particles that build up in your heating and cooling units also accumulate in the ductwork. Again, they’ll constantly blow out of the ductwork and into your home when you’re running the heat or air conditioning. They’ll also greatly detract from the efficiency and effectiveness of the HVAC system. Duct cleaning clears the build-up in the ductwork, getting rid of indoor air contaminants as well as the other problems the built-up particles can cause.
Air Purification Systems
Both duct cleaning and routine HVAC maintenance can go a long way toward improving your indoor air quality, but they’re not always enough. Sometimes, they need reinforcements. Standard HVAC filters can remove numerous contaminants from the air, but they’re not completely effective. Many of them are thin, flimsy, and extremely porous. That means many of the particles in the air can slip right through them.
HEPA filters are a cut above standard filters. They’re thicker, sturdier, and designed to catch much smaller particles than their counterparts. They can place a strain on your HVAC system if they’re not kept clean or replaced as needed, so taking care of the filters and replacing them promptly will help circumvent the problem. Electrostatic filters are also effective for removing particles from the air. Instead of having several layers like standard and HEPA filters, they actually charge contaminants in the air and attract them like a magnet. This keeps those contaminants from re-entering the air in your home. Electrostatic filters need to be cleaned regularly to be effective. You could also choose a UV air purifier. These systems target microorganisms, such as viruses, bacteria, and mold. You can have a UV lamp installed where the air comes into the HVAC system as well as where it exits the system and flows into your home.

Which Solution Is Right for My Home?
Some people use air filtration or purification systems as standalone solutions for indoor air contaminants. Other times, different types of systems can be used together for extra protection against contaminants. The right option for your home depends on the types of contaminants you’re most concerned about, the HVAC system you have in place, and other factors. Our Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) experts will perform a clean air assessment to help you decide which solution is best for your needs and install the system for you. We also offer maintenance and repair services for indoor air quality systems.
